How Long Does an Artificial Turf Installation Take?

Turf installation is fast compared with most landscape construction, and the finished surface is usable the moment we leave. Here's how the days actually break down.

Consultation to Scheduling (1–3 Weeks)

We measure, assess drainage, show samples, and send a written estimate, typically within a couple of days of the visit. Once you approve it, scheduling depends on the season. Spring and early summer are our busiest stretch and lead times run longest; late fall and winter often have much shorter waits.

Demolition and Excavation (1–2 Days)

Sod removal, excavation to depth, and haul-away. Access drives this more than size does. A yard a compact machine can reach moves quickly; a yard where everything goes by wheelbarrow takes considerably longer.

Base and Drainage (1–2 Days)

Drainage installation where needed, then aggregate placed and compacted in lifts, then the fine leveling course screeded and checked for grade. This is the most important stage and the one we least like to rush.

Turf Installation (1–2 Days)

Rolling out, letting the material relax, cutting to the perimeter, seaming with tape and adhesive, nailing the perimeter and field, brushing in infill, and detailing edges and transitions.

Most residential lawns are three to five working days on site. Larger or more complex projects (significant drainage work, putting green contouring, multi-area installs) run longer, and we'll give you a specific schedule with your estimate.

Weather

We install through Portland winters. Rain during excavation is the main complication, since saturated spoil is heavier to move and a soaked subgrade can need extra attention. It shifts schedules occasionally; it rarely stops a project.

And Then You Use It

No cure time, no establishment period, no watering schedule, no keeping the dog off it for three weeks. It's done when we drive away. Get on the schedule.
